What is Oceamo DUO for?
Oceamo DUO is a system for the simple and effective supply of saltwater aquariums with calcium and alkalinity (KH), the most important building blocks for the growth of stony corals in reef aquariums. In addition to Ca and KH, DUO also provides the important macroelements potassium, strontium, boron, magnesium, bromide, sulfate and the trace elements rubidium, iodine and fluoride in order to create an optimal aquarium environment for healthy growth.
What are the advantages of the Oceamo DUO system?
DUO is very easy to use: It consists of only two components, which are usually dosed in the same amount. DUO does not need to be diluted or dissolved before use.
The composition of DUO prevents ion shift (at 1:1 dosage).
DUO increases the pH value, which accelerates the growth of stony corals. By using DUO, the use of soda lime to stabilize the pH value can often be dispensed with, thus reducing running costs.
In addition to the "main parameters" calcium and alkalinity, DUO doses many other substances: strontium, boron, iodine, fluoride, bromide, sulfate, potassium, rubidium and magnesium. This means that these important water parameters are supplemented in a way that is adapted to the consumption of corals.
DUO does not contain any organic components: This means that the product can be diluted as desired and no oxygen is removed from the aquarium water by dosing DUO.
In our laboratory, all raw materials and products are subjected to strict quality control (using ICP-OES and other methods). This allows us to guarantee the consistently high quality of our products.
How long does one liter of Oceamo DUO last?
Oceamo DUO is very efficient: 10 ml increases the alkalinity in 100 liters by 1 °dKH. In an averagely populated tank, about 10 ml of DUO per 100 liters are needed daily.
An 80l nano tank can be operated with 1 liter of DUO for an average of 125 days.
In which container sizes is Oceamo DUO available?
DUO is available in 1l containers and 5l canisters. For pools over 300l we recommend using the 5l canister. Our containers are leak-proof and the 1000ml containers are also equipped with a child safety lock.
How & when should Oceamo DUO be dosed?
DUO can be dosed manually or using a dosing pump. DUO KH and DUO Ca should be added at different times (at least 10 minutes) in a place with a strong flow (e.g. technical tank). It is best to divide the dosage into several individual portions in order to keep KH and Ca as constant as possible.
Can the products be diluted? Will this reduce their shelf life?
For very small pools, it is advisable to dilute DUO before use in order to achieve greater dosing accuracy. DUO can easily be diluted with osmosis water in any ratio; this does not affect its shelf life.
How often should carbohydrate and calcium levels be measured and the dosage adjusted?
We recommend measuring the KH and calcium levels every 2-3 days during the establishment phase (after switching to DUO) and adjusting the dosage accordingly. Do you need help finding the right dosage? Please contact us, we are happy to help! After the establishment has been achieved, KH and calcium should be measured once a week.
Do all other water parameters such as boron, strontium, potassium, magnesium, iodine, etc. remain in the optimal range when DUO is dosed?
Every tank is different, which is why no product can permanently fix all water values at the target value. We have designed DUO in such a way that a basic supply is guaranteed, so that a critical deficiency of these elements is extremely unlikely. Nevertheless, the dosage is in a range where an unnatural enrichment is not to be expected. We recommend having a seawater analysis carried out in our laboratory every 3-6 months in order to be able to adjust any water parameters that are too low back to the optimal value.
Does DUO cause an ion shift or an increase in salinity?
DUO is designed in such a way that all essential seawater components are dosed accordingly so that no ion shift occurs.
Dosing DUO therefore creates additional sea salt, which increases the salinity. This should be taken into account when changing the water.
When dosing 1 liter of DUO, ~8.7 l of sea water should be replaced with osmosis water to keep the salinity constant.
Example 1) In a 1000 litre tank, 100 ml of DUO are dosed daily. To keep the salinity constant, 6 litres of tank water should be replaced with osmosis water once a week
Example 2) In a 100 litre tank, 10 ml of DUO is added daily. To keep the salinity constant, 0.6 litres of tank water should be replaced with osmosis water once a week.
Which products can be used to supplement DUO?
We recommend supplementing the basic supply through DUO with inorganic trace elements and organic nutrients (amino acids, carbohydrates). This supply is ensured by Oceamo Regulator A & O.

Here are the instructions for unpacking and acclimating Berghia snails:
- Berghia snails are specialized feeders that only eat Aiptasia sp. It is important to always have enough Aiptasia for them or to pass them on in a timely manner.
- They are less suitable for larger aquariums with many fish, but if necessary they can be placed in the evening with the lights turned off using the transfer pipette.
- Direct contact between snails and Aiptasia should be avoided as this can lead to the death of the snails. The snails must make contact with the Aiptasia themselves.
- Berghia snails are ideal for controlling Aiptasia in small aquariums with peaceful fish or in separate "treatment aquariums".
- The snails delivered are not yet fully grown and can, if necessary, be fed in a separate aquarium until they reach the desired size.
- To open the Styrofoam box, simply pull on the blue ribbon. The insulated packaging does not need to be removed from the box. Allow the temperatures to equalize for around 10 minutes by placing the unopened transport container in the aquarium.
- Carefully unscrew the white lid anti-clockwise. The transport container may be full of sea water and individual snails may be stuck to the lid. If this happens, place the lid in a small bowl of sea water from the aquarium.
- Use the transfer pipette provided to remove the snails from the container and transfer them to the aquarium. Repeat the process with all snails.
- The insulated box is recyclable and can be disposed of as recyclables or used for other purposes.
- In case of a complaint, we ask for an email on the day of arrival with a photo of the snail in the transport cup for a replacement.
